ONTARIO - Walla Walla Community College picked up its fourth NWAACC Eastern Region volleyball victory with a three-set win over Treasure Valley here Wednesday.
The Warriors downed the Chukars 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.
"The best thing about this Treasure Valley trip is that we don't have to go there again this season," WWCC coach Tim Toon. "They are a good team and it is a tough place to play. We are very pleased to come away with a three-game win."
Libby Kern recorded 17 kills and two blocks for the Warriors.
"Last week, Libby was named NWAACC Offensive Player of the Week," Toon said. "She continuedher dominating performance tonight with almost six kills per game. She was amazing again."
Kayla Hanus tallied 39 assists for WWCC.
"These numbers validate her quality setting," Toon said. "With her running the offense, the hitters know they're going to get a great ball to attack."
Brittany Dominguez had 10 kills in "a great comeback match after missing all last week recovering from a broken nose," Toon said.
Laekynn Culpepper had 12 digs, Taylor Lancaster six digs and Renee Baumann six digs and two aces.
"These three players anchor our back row," Toon said. "Their serve receive was outstanding tonight and defense was solid."
Desiree Neilson recorded five kills and two blocks and Christine Deitz six digs.
"The match was really won in the second game," Toon said. "It was tight all the way and we had to make some big plays to pull out the win. With the win, we went up 2-0 and were able to cruise into the sweep. Had we lost game two, we would have had a real battle on our hands."
The Warriors, now 4-1 in conference play and 17-5 overall, host Big Bend at 6 p.m. Friday.
"Big Bend has only one conference win, but they will be a formidable opponent on Friday," Toon said. "They block welll and have a couple kids that can hit the ball. They are not an opponent we can take lightly."
