COLLEGE PLACE - DeSales pulled out a five-set Southeast 2B volleyball victory over Walla Walla Valley Academy here Thursday, 25-23, 25-10, 17-25, 24-26, 15-6.
Abby Larreau recorded 14 kills and five blocks for the Irish, with Stephanie Ferrel picking up 12 kills, Annie Higgins eight kills, Claire Conley six kills, and Chantel Blanc 28 assists and three kills.
Alex Buley was also 18-for-18 serving for DeSales.
"Offensively, this was probably the best we've played this season," Irish coach Lori Blanc said. "Defensively we're pretty strong. They had the mental strength they needed to win this game."
The Knights' Amy Arnzen, Caroline Larson and Hannah Woolever all recorded four kills in the match.
Rylee Sutton was 12-of-14 serving with two aces for WWVA, Kristi Buell had eight assist, and Brooklynn Larson two blocks.
"We played well in the first set, but struggled a little bit in the second," WWVA coach Scott Schafer said. "We're a young team, but they stepped up in three and four to push it to five (sets). We established our rotation and got to the fifth.
"It's tough for a young team to stay with it," he said. "I was pleased, overall, with how they played taking it to five. We're just trying to get on the same page and close out those matches."
The Knights, now 2-4 in SE2B play, travel to Asotin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
DeSales, 4-2 in SE2B play, travels to Tri-Cities Prep at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
