Teams will be comprised of three people, who will be expected to stomp 50 pounds of grapes, barefoot, in 3 minutes flat.
Applications are being taken for Italian Heritage Association's annual competition grape stomp. The stomp will be noon Oct. 9 at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. Participants must be 16 or older. Those under age 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release form.
Teams are of three persons, who will stomp 50 pounds of grapes, barefoot, in 3 minutes. The top three teams win cash prizes and all get a "Stomp 2011" T-shirt. The competition is limited to 12 teams.
The team sponsorship fee is $50. Teams are asked to recruit friends, families or businesses to contribute money for each inch of juice they crush. Proceeds are donated to Providence St. Mary Cancer Center.
