COLLEGE PLACE - Walla Walla University came from behind in both games to sweep a Washington State University club team 11-3 and 18-17 here Sunday in collegiate softball play.
The Wolves fell behind 2-0 in the fourth inning of the opener but overcame that deficit quickly with a seven-run rally in the bottom of the same frame.
In a wild and woolly second game, the Wolves broke open a scoreless game with 10 run in the bottom of the third inning only to see WSU plate 10 runs in the top of the fourth. The Wolves were trailing 17-15 going into the bottom of the seventh inning and scored three times to pull out the victory.
Nicole Beeks earned both pitching victories, going all the way in the six-inning opener and relieving Kristi Hernandez in the fourth inning of the second game with the score deadlocked at 10-10.
Hernandez had three hits, including a triple, to lead WWU's 14-hit attack in the opener. Veronica Rojas, Jaci Shankel, Karly Joseph and Katie Wilson added two hits each.
Rojas had three more hits in the second game and Hernandez and Tanzi Lampert added two each as the Wolves collected 13 hits.
Kellie Shinstrom and Kelsey Knauss slugged home runs for WSU, which collected 15 hits in the game.
The victories enabled Walla Walla to even its season record at 6-6. The Wolves return to action next Sunday when they entertain a team from the University of Great Falls in a 3 p.m. twin bill.
