MOSES LAKE - Down 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining in its matchup with Moses Lake Tuesday, Wa-Hi decided, essentially, to go big or go home.

They went home with a 4-1 loss in Big Nine Conference Class 4A soccer play.

"We went with a more offensive lineup which we knew was going to open us up a bit," Wa-Hi coach Mike Washington said. "I told the guys, ‘We're either going to to lose 2-1, or win, or lose 4-1.' Consequently, we lost 4-1."

Moses Lakes' Johnny Cortez opened scoring in the 22nd minute off an assist from Adolfo Cortez.

Jose Maya answered for the Blue Devils with a goal in the 51st minute to knot the score at 1-all.

Moses Lake jumped ahead with two goals in four minutes (65th to 69th minutes) and scored its final goal in stoppage time.

Wa-Hi's Antonio Mesa and Moses Lake's Luis Villa had five saves each.

The loss drops Wa-Hi to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the CBBN.

The Blue Devils host the Class 2A Pullman Greyhounds Thursday at 4 p.m.
