Erasmo Garza Jr., 53, 20 E. Chestnut St. was sentenced April 2 on one count stalking -- domestic violence. The sentence included restitution to be determined, $200 in court costs, $79 in sheriff fees, $500 to the crime victims compensation fund, $775 in attorney fees, $100 biological fee, $100 domestic violence penalty fee, 15 months in the custody of the Department of Corrections, credit for 100 days served, 12 months community custody. On March 8 Garza pleaded guilty to stalking a family or household member on Dec. 23.
Brandon N. Low, 19, 1017 S. Fourth Ave., was sentenced April 2 on one count each violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and second-degree driving while license suspended or revoked. The sentence included $200 in court costs, $62 in sheriff fees, $500 to the crime victims compensation fund, $775 in attorney fees, $500 drug enforcement fund, 364 days in the county jail with 334 days suspended, credit for 22 days served, 334 days probation. On Feb. 17 Low pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing less than 40 grams marijuana, and operating a vehicle while his privilege to drive was suspended or revoked on May 26.
On March 28 the court dismissed a charge of first-degree child molestation against Abelardo M. Ferreira, 54, of Walla Walla, in that given all facts, circumstances, probable defenses and testimony at trial it would be unlikely a jury would be satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the alleged acts.
