PENDLETON -- Glass of Eastern Oregon will open today at The Pendleton Center for the Arts East Oregonian Gallery, 214 N. Main St. The opening reception is tonight from 5:30-7.

The exhibit grew out of the Arts Center's connection with La Grande artist Kevin Boylan. Boylan's own work was featured in the gallery in 2011 and he has connections with many other artists in Eastern Oregon who are creating artworks in glass.

Boylan was introduced to ceramics while attending Walla Walla High School. At a gallery reception where his work was on display, he was recruited by art professor Tom Dimond to visit the art department at Eastern Oregon University. Boylan spent the next three years immersed in the art department at EOU.

In 2010 he joined the staff at Pilchuck Glass School as the hot shop technician. Boylan returned to Pilchuck again this past summer. He also teaches in workshop settings at venues across the northwest and recently taught a glass bead making workshop at the Arts Center for beginning glass enthusiasts.

The exhibit runs through April 28. Admission is free. For more information, see pendletonarts.org or call 541-278-9201.
