WENATCHEE - Walla Walla Community College split an NWAACC East Region baseball twin bill with Wenatchee Valley here Wednesday, winning the opener 5-3 before dropping the nightcap, 5-2.
The Warriors opened with a leadoff double by Neal Schuck. Schuck later scored on Cody Poznanski's sacrifice fly for an early 1-0 WWCC lead.
In the fourth, Michael Kilpatrick had an RBI single to put WWCC up 2-0.
The Warriors put three more on the board in the top of the seventh, with Jared Jordan getting hit to drive in one run, Jarrod Turner picking up an RBI single and Shane Dixon an RBI sac fly.
Joe Arlt went 7 1/3 innings on the mound to pace WWCC's win. He struck out six while giving up five hits and two earned runs.
"Joe had another quality start," WWCC coach Dave Meliah said. "Offensively, we had some good at bats, especially in the seventh inning, to give us some breathing room."
In the second game, the Knights went up 1-0 in the third inning, but the Warriors responded with two of their own in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.
Jordan scored on Kasey Knigge's single, and Poznanski scored on Turner's ground out to account for Walla Walla Community College's runs.
Wenatchee Valley tied the game in the fifth, and plated two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth for the victory.
"We didn't play with any intensity until the ninth inning," Meliah said. "Wenatchee is a tough place to play, so it's nice to get out of there with a win."
The Warriors, now 15-7 overall and 4-2 in East Region play, host Columbia Basin for a twin bill at 1 p.m. Saturday.
