Carol Jean Zier, 94, died March 31, 2012, at Providence Hospital, Everett. A memorial service at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens in Walla Walla will be announced at a later date.
Carol was born Dec. 24, 1917, in Walla Walla to Louis Wayne Reid and Violet Bowers Reid. She graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1936. She married Harry Zier June 15, 1937, in Walla Walla. After Harry completed his education degree, they moved to Omak for eight years, then to Wenatchee for 21 years and finally to Bellevue and Seattle where they retired. Carol lived at Faerland Terrace, Seattle, and Bethany at Pacific in Everett after Harry died. Carol was a homemaker and worked for the Wenatchee School District for many years. She enjoyed her family and friends and all sporting activities, especially those associated with Harry's coaching career.
Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Smith (Larry) of Cheney, Patricia Kuest (Ronald) of Olympia, and Sherry Ziegman (Bruce) of Vancouver; grandchildren, Brad Smith, Laurel Bahr, Jeff Kuest, Kelly Kuest, Kristi Lindholm, Amy Lankenau and Katie Craig; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; granddaughter, Debby Smith; twin sister, Carma Carle; sister, Marjorie Smith; and brother Robert Reid.
Carol also was a beloved sister-in-law to Walter Betty Zier, Carol Dale Steindorf, and Evie Schmidt. She was a dear aunt to Sandra Reppe, Ronald MacDougall, Robin Reid, Pam Reid, Neil Hall and Louis Hall.
