In the minutes - COLUMBIA COUNTY

Columbia County commissioners are Chuck Reeves, Dwight Robanske and Dick Jones. With all present Wednesday:

  • HEARING: Set May 2 at 10:30 a.m. for hearing on vacation of a portion of a right-of-way on Robinette Mountain Road. Unanimous.

  • PUBLIC WORKS: Approved agreement with Dayton to be part of a state program that offers alternatives to burning as a way to dispose of yard waste. Unanimous.

  • HOMELESS GRANT: Signed a consolidated homeless grant agreement with Blue Mountain Action Council.

  • SENIOR CENTER: Met with Fred Gritman regarding the senior meal program. Gritman said the program has experienced a funding cut. Commissioners agreed to help restore the program to full operation.

  • BIDS: Opened two bids for newspaper of record. Bidders were the Dayton Chronicle and The Times of Waitsburg. Although The Times' bid was lower, commissioners decided to award the bid to the Dayton Chronicle because it has better circulation coverage in Columbia County and is historically the county's paper of record. Unanimous.
