WALLA WALLA -- A portion of a close-custody unit at Washington State Penitentiary remained on restricted movement today following a fight Tuesday.
Prison officials will be reassessing the situation later today to decide if the restrictions in Golf Unit will be changed, said Shari Hall, prison spokeswoman.
The unit was placed on restricted movement following a fight in a commons area that started about 5:35 p.m. between two inmates and escalated to involve 14 prisoners.
Correctional officers used pepper spray to break up the fight, which was quickly brought under control.
No officers or inmates were injured in the fight, Hall said Thursday.
The remainder of the penitentiary is operating normally.
