HOOD RIVER, Ore. - Weston-McEwen got off on the right foot to open the Special District Six league baseball season here Saturday.
The TigerScots' Jared Bond doubled in the tie-breaking run in the top of the sixth. Nick Pease culminated the two-run sixth with a sacrifice fly to knock in the eventual game winner. W-M held off Horizon Christian in the seventh to pull out a 4-3 win.
Behind a Dallas Reich home run, the TigerScots completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
"We haven't played for awhile," TigerScots coach T.J. Haguewood said. "We battled all day, had some chances but couldn't get the big hit to break the games open. Two wins on the road against a good club is a good start."
Reich and Nick Lively combined for 12 strikeouts in the 4-3 win. Reich, KJ White, and Lance Thacker each collected two hits to lead the TigerScot offense.
The TigerScots only got four hits in the 6-4 win, but it was enough as Elliot Salter and Lively limited Horizon Christian to four runs on six hits.
Bond led the hitters with two hits.
The TigerScots move to 2-0 in league and 5-1 overall with the two wins. Weston-McEwen travels to Touchet for a 4 p.m. non-league game with the Indians Tuesday.
