YAKIMA - Two complete-game pitching victories for Wa-Hi propelled the Blue Devils to 11-1 and 13-2 wins Friday afternoon against Eisenhower.
"We had great pitching and we pounded the baseball," Wa-Hi coach Keith Gradwohl said. "An outstanding outing for Luke (Reardon) and a complete game for the freshman Adam (Mathews)."
Reardon walked none, hit two batters, allowed just one hit and a single run while striking out four.
Mathews walked one, hit one, struck out four, gave up the six hits and the two runs.
"Adam Mathews was really around the plate and didn't give up many free passes," Gradwohl said. "He had a really good outing."
The Wa-Hi offense had 28 hits and scored 24 runs in the twin bill.
In game one, the biggest hit was by Spencer Locati, who had a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning.
Taylor Lemke drove in three runs in a 2-for-4 performance that included a sacrifice fly and a double.
In game two, Daniel Lake had a two-out single, driving in two runs and pushing the lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning.
"I was really happy with how we hit," Gradwohl said. "We banged out fifteen hits in game two and that was great."
Locati added 3 RBIs in the second game.
Josh Eggers was 2-for-3 at the plate. Eggers had a run-scoring double in the fifth and a leadoff double in the sixth.
