Cocktail peanuts recalled over contamination fear

A lot of Planters Cocktail Peanuts is affected by the voluntary recall.

Kraft Foods Group, Inc. is voluntarily recalling one production of Planters Cocktail Peanuts sold in 12 ounce canisters with a code date reading 09-Jan-14, UPC 2900007212). According to the U.S. Drug and Food Administration, there is a possibility the product was exposed to water not intended for use in food during the production process.

There have been no illnesses reported or complaints related to this product. Kraft Foods is issuing this voluntary recall out of caution.

Consumers can find the code date on the bottom of the canister. No other code dates or any other Planters products are being recalled.

Approximately 3,000 cases of the recalled product were shipped to retail customers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Consumers who bought the affected product should not eat them, but return them to the store of purchase for an exchange or full refund. Consumers also can contact Kraft Foods consumer relations at 800-396-2133.
