WALLA WALLA - The sounds a number of residents may have heard this weekend weren't the Easter Bunny, city police said.

Sabrina M. Wise, 37, of College Place, was taken into custody at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after being caught inside of a garage in the 1300 block of University Street, said Officer Tim Bennett, Walla Walla Police Department spokesman, in a news release.

Wise is suspected of unlawfully entering a number of vehicles in the area of University Street and Martonick Lane, Bennett said.

Wise was found in possession of numerous bags of suspected stolen property and officers found six vehicles in the area that had been entered.

There was no forced entry noted on any of the vehicles, according to the release.

It is believed that Wise was with at least one other suspect, who was likely riding a bicycle, Bennett said.

More than $1,000 worth of stolen items, including several Easter presents for the children of one of the victims, was returned to the owners, Bennett said.

Wise was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail for investigation of second-degree possession of stolen property, second-degree burglary, second-degree vehicle prowl and third-degree theft.

Law enforcement officials urge vehicle owners to take valuables inside and to lock their vehicles at all times, Bennett said.
