WALLA WALLA -- The Police Department is holding a fraud prevention seminar for seniors and senior care providers on April 23. The free class will help seniors and their care providers spot "red flags" of fraud and financial scams. Guest speakers include Christine Kieffer, of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Foundation, and Martin Cordell, of the Washington Department of Financial Institutions.

The department is also offering free SafeAssured ID program kits to seniors and children during the seminar.

SafeAssured kits provide a way to store important information on a digital disk, including fingerprints, photographs, digital voice recordings and other identifying information.

Registration for the class will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Marcus Whitman Hotel on April 23. The class will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information on either program, contact Crime Prevention Coordinator Vicki Ruley at 509-524-4409.
