WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla County Democrats will host precinct caucuses on Sunday at Walla Walla High School.
The caucuses will begin at 1 p.m. in the high school's commons room.
Laura Grant, party chairwoman, said the caucuses are the first step in the process of selecting delegates to the state and national conventions scheduled for later this year. Attendees will elect delegates who will then stand for election at the next level.
The second step of the process will occur at the legislative district caucuses to be held April 28 at various locations. The party will hold its convention in conjunction with the 16th Legislative District caucus at 10:30 a.m. on that date, also at the Wa-Hi Commons.
Delegates elected by the legislative district caucuses will continue on to the state convention in Seattle on June 1, which is the third and final delegate selection step, Grant said. The Washington state delegates elected at that convention will ultimately attend the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
