May 12, 1960 - April 3, 2012

On April 3, 2012, we lost an amazing husband, father, and patriot, William Shannon Berry. Bill was born May 12, 1960, in Walla Walla. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 31, 1978, as a Naval Aviation Warfare Specialist. Bill's career as a Senior Acoustic Analyst began with Patrol Squadron 6 (VP-6) and included service in the Atlantic, Pacific, Somalia, Iceland and Alaska. Over his 20-year career, Bill earned several decorations and citations including the Naval Expeditionary medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, and the Naval Achievement medal. Bill was a dedicated volunteer and integral part of the community through his involvement in Boy Scouts. Bill's many roles included den leader, assistant scoutmaster, and Chapter Advisor for Order of the Arrow.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kathleen; daughter, Rachel; sons, Jacob and Aaron; parents, William E. and Carla Mae Berry, Walla Walla; and brother, Michael Berry, Portland. Memorial donations can be made, in Bill's name, to Calvert Hospice and Troop 430, BSA, located at St. John Vianney Church, Prince Frederick, Md.
