DeSales scores early, often in league sweep, 11-0, 10-0


WALLA WALLA - The DeSales baseball team took early leads in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday against St. John-Endicott-Washtucna and cruised to 11-0 and 10-0 wins.

Logan Hoeft of DeSales struck out seven players, gave one hit and walked three others through four innings in the first game while teammate Joe Duehn had four runs batted in.

During the second game DeSales' Cam Richman gave up two hits while striking out nine others and giving up two walks in a complete-game, six-inning effort.

Cody Josifek had an RBI double and single while, Tim Caudill and Travis Haen had two singles each. Caudill also had two runs batted in.

DeSales' Spencer Cordiero "made some really good defensive plays," DeSales coach Kim Cox commented.

"Overall, our guys pitched well and put the bat to the ball while playing some really good defense," Cox said.

DeSales is now 4-0 (7-0 overall) and plays La Salle Catholic in Yakima Tuesday at 4 p.m.
