Grangeville jumps on Pirates

GRANGEVILLE - Grangeville's baseball team took an early lead Saturday against the Pomeroy Pirates and won 13-9 and 9-3.

"Grangeville jumped out to a big lead," Pomeroy coach Dave Boyer said.

"(We) brought in our relief eighth grade pitcher Hayden Heytvelt and he did a good job; he only let them have six more runs," commented Boyer.

Grangeville scored seven of their 13 points in the first inning and Pomeroy "chipped away at Grangeville's lead for the rest of the game," Boyer said.

"I was happy with the kids; they played really good," Boyer said.

Pomeroy travels to Colton on Saturday for a double header at 11 a.m.
