PRESCOTT - The Waitsburg-Prescott softball team swept a doubleheader against the Dayton Bulldogs, 4-3 and 7-4, Saturday.

W-P had just enough hitting to win game one.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the sixth inning, W-P started off with a walk, hit batsmen and a two-RBI double by Hailey Goenen. Katy Hofer singled in Goenen for the third and winning run.

Both starting pitchers did well for W-P, keeping them in the games throughout the twin bill.

Jennifer Nichols got the win in game one and the save in the second game.

Sydney Eng pitched a strong six innings and got the win the second of two games.

"I really can't complain about either pitcher," W-P coach Angie Potts said. "Both of them threw more strikes than balls and did really well."

Nichols struck out six and walked one; Eng struck out four and walked one.

W-P (8-2, 5-1) plays again Saturday at Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia at 11 a.m. in a doubleheader.
