TRI-CITIES - The Walla Walla Xplosion '98 softball team went 5-1 at the NSA Ice-Breakers Fastpitch Tournament last weekend in the Tri-Cities.
The Xplosion placed fifth place overall out of 32 teams in their 14-and-under division.
Xplosion '98 beat the Idaho Diamond Bandits in the first game Saturday, 12-3, with pitcher BreAnna Birdwell pitching a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.
The next game, they beat the Crushers l'98 team, 7-1, with pitcher Brandi Schoessler pitching a no hitter with 10 strikeouts.
They then had a 7-3 loss to Mill Creek Mayhem, but with a highlight of Schoessler hitting her first home run.
Xplosion '98 bounced back in their last game under the lights with a 8-0 victory over the Diamond Dusters '98, with Schoessler pitching a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and hitting her second home run of the day, and Birdwell hitting two home runs.
In their first game on Sunday, the Xplosion beat the Cherry City Crush, 4-0, and completed the weekend with a victory over the Tigard Blast/Riggs, 2-1, with Schoessler pitching a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts.
Xplosion '98 are 7-2 on the season and play host games at the Mill Creek Sportsplex April 28-29.
