COLFAX - The Lyons sisters teamed up in the circle to lead DeSales to a sweep of Colfax, 9-2 and 16-14, here Tuesday.
Ashlyn Lyons started the opener, striking out nine Bulldogs and giving up three hits. She also helped her cause with three hits in the game, including a triple, among 13 DeSales hits.
"Everybody pretty much contributed in the first game," Irish coach Russell Vera said. "We got hits when we needed, and defense when we needed. I've got four eighth graders starting for me, and they're starting to peak right now. They're playing well."
In the nightcap, Allesyn Lyons took the circle for what turned into a slugfest as DeSales got some bench players time on the field.
Colfax jumped to a 3-0 first-inning lead, but the Irish answered with seven second-inning scores.
The Bulldogs scored three more in the bottom of the second, four in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a 13-7 lead.
DeSales plated six in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh for the victory.
"We'd score some runs, then commit errors and let them back in the game," Vera said.
Ashlyn Lyons was 4-for-5 with six RBIs, including a home run and a triple, in the game.
Allesyn Lyons was 2-for-4 with a double, Molly Lesko had three hits, and Teresa Acock and Britt Postlewait each had two among DeSales' 16 in the game.
"They fought back," Vera said. "They got the runs when they needed to and got outs when they needed to. I'm really proud of what they did last night.
"Colfax is a good team, they're 7-1 in their league (Bi-County), so for us to go on their home field and take two is a nice way for us to go into our next two league games."
DeSales, now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in Southeast 2B play, is slated to play at Dayton Thursday.
