WWU engineering school to host open house to mark 65th year

COLLEGE PLACE -- To mark its 65th year, the Edward F. Cross School of Engineering at Walla Walla University will host a public open house April 27.

In 1947, just 26 students attended classes in a surplus World War II barracks, says Douglas Logan, dead of the School of Engineering.

Today the engineering department has 222 students studying in areas of civil, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering.

Bioengineering is offered in conjunction with the university's biology department.

The open house will feature a tour of the engineering department's labs, an overview of its history and update on latest happenings.

The event starts at 3 p.m. in the Chan Shu Pavilion, on S.W. Fourth Street east of South College Avenue.
