Test results show Weston water safe to drink

— Weston municipal water is safe to drink, according to water quality tests that were returned Tuesday afternoon after a break in a city waterline Saturday.

The waterline break was caused by a mud slide, and briefly shut off all water for city residents Saturday. Water service was restored by backfilling city lines from a water supply line for Smith's Frozen Foods, allowing city residents to use water for anything but drinking or cooking.

A boil-water advisory remained in place for drinking water in the city until the state test confirmed the water was safe to drink. On Tuesday, construction crews also worked to repair the 12 inch municipal water pipe that was damaged, allowing normal water service to resume.
