Walla Walla The trial of a man accused of raping a female acquaintance at a local residence last summer has been postponed yet again in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
Donald R. Lackey Jr., 45, most recently had been set for trial July 10, but the proceedings now are being delayed until Sept. 18.
The trial has been continued numerous times. The prosecution and defense had been waiting for a report on a forensic computer examination, which was received early last month, according to a court document.
Lackey is charged with second-degree rape. He is accused of pulling the back of the woman’s hair, dragging her into a bedroom, pushing her face down onto the bed and raping her about 6 p.m. on Aug. 24, 2011.
She later was taken to Walla Walla General Hospital, where medical personnel saw evidence of sexual assault, according to a police report filed in court.
Lackey was located downtown that evening and arrested. In an interview with police, he reportedly claimed he and the woman had engaged in consensual sex.
He was lodged in the County Jail, but was released in late May pending the outcome of his case.
