Performing arts, music festival set at Wildhorse


MISSION — The Nixyaawii Performing Arts and Music Festival will be held Friday and Saturday at the Wildhorse Resort & Casino, 46510 Wildhorse Blvd. The Nixyaawii Performing Arts Consortium, founded by elder Ron Pond, is hosting this regional music and art event.

Art displays and music will begin Friday, Aug. 10 at 3 p.m. through dusk and will continue again starting 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11.

The event is open to all musicians and artists in the region to share their talent. There is no fee for artist and vendors to display and sell their work during the event.

A silent auction for a pair of beaded fancy parade gloves created by artist Roger Amerman will be held. There will also be a special ceremony to honor Native American Veterans and their support groups.

All donations and money raised by the silent auction and donations will directly benefit students who attend schools on and off reservation and those who attend college and universities.

The event is sponsored by the Wildhorse Resort & Casino and Cayuse Technologies.
