Pediatrician to join Adventist Health Medical Group

— Adventist Health Medical Group at Walla Walla General Hospital is welcoming a new pediatrician to the group this month.

Dr. Olga Ochoa is a board-certified pediatrician fluent in both Spanish and English. She recently completed her pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

"Ochoa earned her medical degree from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and completed her residency in Medellin, Colombia, where she continued to practice for the next 10 years as a pediatrician."

Ochoa decided to become a doctor when she was 15 years old and her younger brother died of leukemia, said Kristi Spurgeon Johnson, spokeswoman for General Hospital.

The physician’s experience as a general pediatrician focuses on childhood obesity and asthma. Some of her favorite visits are the ongoing, well-child visits as they allow her to interact with and learn more about her patients and their families, Spurgeon Johnson noted.

Ochoa is the second pediatrician to join the seven-provider group at the medical group this year. Her arrival also enhances the group’s ability to provide care in Spanish, with two bilingual providers and many bilingual nurses and other staff.
