A new shaved ice business is offering a taste of the tropics in College Place.

Pineapple Pete’s has been serving up cool treats at 1015 S. College Ave., not far from Andy’s Market.

The cash-only business is owned by Slavik Tkachev and Marc Hernandez, according to the business’s Facebook page. The shaved ice is served in a small tiki hut with seating in front of Hernandez’s residence.

Shaved ice comes in an array of flavors: root beer, cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry, banana, piña colada, blue Hawaiian, sour apple, pineapple, tiger’s blood, pomegranate and more. A scoop of vanilla ice cream can be added to the treats. Other offerings include popsicles and root beer and cream soda floats. Guests also receive a Hawaiian lei to complete the experience, according to the online description.

Hours of operation are 1-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday.
