Man arrested in stolen vehicle day after multiple infractions
WALLA WALLA — Rigoberto Dejesus was arrested by city police on investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle a day after the 27-year-old was cited by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office for multiple driving infractions in the same vehicle.
According to Officer Tim Bennett, department spokesman, Dejesus was cited for driving while suspended, expired tags and not having insurance on Friday while driving a black 2011 Ford Mustang convertible. Bennett said the vehicle was not reported stolen until Saturday.
Officer Dan Lackey spotted the vehicle on Chase Avenue near Chestnut Street and found Dejesus behind the wheel. Dejesus claimed someone else had given him a ride, but witnesses reported only seeing one person in the car when it arrived, according to Bennett.
