WALLA WALLA — Brandon Kearney, assistant professional at Bend Golf and Country Club in Bend, Ore., led wire-to-wire to win the Northwest Open Invitational at Wine Valley Golf Club Wednesday.

Kearney finished with a final-round 70 to bring home $7,000 with the win. He shot 63-71-70—204 as Wine Valley hosted the Northwest Open Invite for the third year in a row.

PGA professionals Darren Black of Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle, and Derek Barron of Tacoma Firs in Tacoma, tied for second, three shots back of Kearney.

Black shot 70-66-71—207, and Barron 69-68-70—207. Each earned $3,862 for the finish.

Brady Sharp from Walla Walla Country Club was the top local finisher, shooting a final-round 74 to card 216. He earned $1,023.

The final round was close coming down the stretch, but Kearney birdied the final two holes to cap off the victory.

The Northwest Open will return to Wine Valley in 2013.

The PGA Pacific Northwest Section includes 1,100 PGA members and apprentices in Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho, Western Montana and Alaska. The Northwest Open Invitational is one of six major championships conducted by the section.
