Suspects sought in daylight burglaries

WALLA WALLA – Police are looking for suspects in two early morning burglaries not far from Green Park Elementary School.

According to Officer Tim Bennett, Walla Walla Police Department spokesman, an elderly woman found an intruder in her home at roughly 8 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1100 block of Bonsella Street. The suspect was described as a man in his mid-50s wearing a baseball cap.

“It appears the victim came home and interrupted the burglary,” Bennett said, adding the window in the home’s rear door had bee broken.

According to Bennett, the suspect stole an assortment of jewelry.

This morning police responded to a report of a similar burglary at 7 a.m. in the 1100 block of Alvarado Terrace.

“We’re basically a block, two blocks away (from the first burglary),” Bennett said this morning, adding the man apparently thought the home was empty, and fled when he found a woman was still in bed upstairs.

“He thought all the people had left the house,” Bennett said.

The suspect in this morning’s burglary was identified as a man wearing sweat pants and a baseball cap.

“The physical description is very similar,” Bennett said. “We definitely want people in the neighborhood to be alert.”
