Weekend tour puts focus on wind power

WALLA WALLA — Area residents have the chance to learn about wind energy technology through Pacific Power’s ninth annual Renewable Energy Project Tour.

The program is being held Sept. 8 starting at 9:30 a.m. at Walla Walla Community College. The cost to register is $25 per person, with discounts available for children and Blue Sky customers. Registration information is available by emailing windtour@pacificpower.net, calling 1-866-476-9378 x. 23, or by downloading the registration packet at pacificpower.net/tour. Registrations must be postmarked by Aug. 31.

The tour will start with presentations on solar and wind power at the college. After lunch, participants will take a quick bus ride to PacifiCorp’s Marengo wind facility to check out one of the 220-foot-tall turbine towers and ask questions of wind farm experts.

The day will conclude with tours of the college’s wind tech training program and solar projects.
