Police investigate drive-by shooting

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Special Teams unit is investigating a drive-by shooting in the 700 block of West Elm just after 11 p.m., Monday.

Police found seven, medium-caliber bullet holes in the wall of a residence after responding to multiple shots-fired calls. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the gunfire.

Tim Bennett, spokesman for the Walla Walla Police Department, said witnesses described a red or maroon, full-sized passenger car fleeing the area, northbound on 13th Avenue.

Multiple agencies responded in an attempt to intercept the vehicle, and officers found a location on McInroe Road where a vehicle lost control and struck an embankment.

Officers found an empty ammunition box near the crash site. The caliber matched shell casings found at the scene of the shooting, officers said.

The case is under investigation, and there is no information yet whether the incident was gang-related according to Bennett.
