Walla Walla Fair goes Dutch

The Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days is cooking up its second annual Dutch Oven Cook Off event.

Nationally known Dutch oven outdoor cooking expert CeeDub will be at the fairgrounds, using Walla Walla Sweet Onions and local wines in his cooking demonstrations Friday through Sunday.

He will be one of the judges for Saturday’s cook-off, along with Walla Walla Vintners co-owner Dr. Myles Anderson. Organized by seasoned Dutch oven chefs Joe and Diane Harris, the competition is an International Dutch Oven Society-sanctioned event. It will run 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the beer garden/paddock area. The event is one that wraps history, demonstrations, audience participation, tasting, voting prizes and more into one affair. The winners will be eligible to enter the 2013 World Championship sanctioned cook-off. For more details call 527-3247.
