Pomeroy downs Asotin to open season, 52-38

ASOTIN — Pomeroy’s Riley Bott and Tyson Feider pumped in 13 points apiece in a 52-38 victory over Asotin here Saturday.

The Pirates jumped out to a 17-9 lead early and were outscored in the second quarter, 9-7.

The score at halftime stood at 24-18 and the Pirates ballooned the lead to 14 by game’s end.

“We started out well in the first quarter and faltered a little in the second quarter,” Pomeroy coach Brian Koller said. “We bounced back in the third and fourth quarters. We won three out of the four quarters.

“Overall, I’m very happy for the first game of the season. We still have some things to work on, however.”

The Pirates travel to St.John for a 7:30 p.m. start time on Friday.
