KENNEWICK — Wa-Hi opened its wrestling season here Saturday at the Bob Mars Invitational wrestling tournament.
The Blue Devils finished ninth out of 21 teams, and had four placers led by Logan Reardon, who won the 220 pound class championship.
Reardon posted a 4-0 mark to win his way to the 220 title.
Zane Henderson, at 195, finished third. Jose Albarran, at 113, earned fifth place. Albarran dropped his first match, but stormed back to win four matches in a row and finish fifth. Wa-Hi’s heavyweight, Quinn Piver, took sixth-place points for Wa-Hi.
“Logan dominated his group,” Blue Devil coach Dallas Jones said. “I was pleased with how our placers wrestled.”
Chiawana won the team title.
Wa-Hi got the first-match jitters out of the way and will open Mid-Columbia Conference dual action at Hanford Thursday.
“We had some guys that were ready to wrestle and that expected to win,” Jones said of Wa-Hi’s first action. “We got the first match out of the way, but we had some guys that weren’t ready and didn’t expect to win. We’ve got some stuff to work on.”
