WALLA WALLA — A man charged with brandishing a gun during a confrontation witnessed by frightened customers at a College Place store pleaded guilty Monday to reduced charges.
Larry E. Hoy Jr., 38, of 852 Brickner Road, College Place, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm before Walla Walla Superior Court Judge Donald W. Schacht. No sentencing date was set.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a charge of first-degree assault.
Hoy was accused of pointing a semiautomatic pistol at another man during the confrontation outside the Walmart store in College Place about 3 p.m. Aug. 15. Hoy drove off afterwards but was located and arrested in Walla Walla.
He faces a standard range sentence of 26 to 34 months in prison. Prosecutors have recommended a sentence in the middle range.
