What did the voters say?

I have sat patiently as all of the "locals" have given their analysis on the election results, and now I would like to share mine.

Regardless of any side issues, the past two presidential elections have been about our financial/economic way of life -- whether we continue with the same failed policies of the Reagan/Bush administrations, or if we continue the policies of the Clinton administration. This was quite evident in the positions of the candidates (a very stark difference this year with the "no-tax pledge" and "the Ryan plan").

Both times, by popular vote, the majority said it wanted our tax code, our social programs, our finances to favor middle-class/working people, not corporations nor Wall Street. The majority said it wanted a better way to balance the budget rather than on the backs of the elderly and the infirm.

The majority showed it is fed up with this "horse and sparrow economics" and has decided that our best future is with a strong middle class.

The majority said it wants affordable health care for everyone, a living wage, a safe work environment and a little dignity for what we do.

And while we're at it, it wasn't the middle class that left the American dream, it was the corporations and rich investors who went searching to increase profit (better to pay Third World starvation wage and get rid of those regulations creating dangerous conditions). Remember what happened before unions.

The majority said America isn't for sale. The Koch Brothers, Adelson, Soros and Rove all spent more money than any of us will ever see! Even Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Rob McKenna spent money from out-of-state interests, and The Seattle Times tried to step in and sway our elections!

The majority said we respect your religion but we don't want it in our bedroom, nor do we want it as the basis of all that we do.

And some said that Obama gave us everything to buy the election. Do they mean hope?

Hope that all people can go to work, pay their rent/mortgage, feed their family, raise their kids, send them to school/college? Hope that we might have the American Dream once again?

Hope that no matter who you are, or what color your skin is, or how you spell your last name, you can work hard, become a citizen of this great country and prosper?

Geez I didn't realize that the summers heat was so devastating but I see from this letter that some were severely affected by it. You should really get some help!

I can turn on MSNBC and get the talking points you included in your letter. How about having an original thought for once?

I quit reading at "the failed policies of the Reagan/Bush administrations." I don't care if I agree with you or not, but don't be so damn biased. I think the above MSNBC comment is spot on.

MTNTHC-

Is that comment similar to Obama showing that he can't fix ANYTHING? He has proven he can sure make things much worse. Good for him. Now THAT'S something to be proud of. Go MSNBC!

"Hope that no matter who you are, or what color your skin is, or how you spell your last name, you can work hard, become a citizen of this great country and prosper? Prosper? Sure, until the government (read Democrats) think you make too much money or might inherit a farm or business so they can take your prosperity and give it to someone else. The gov't cannot give anyone anything that it doesn't first take from someone else. If anyone thinks Obama and the Democrats will really bring prosperity to anyone via a socialistic system, they're delusional.

peggyjoy - didn't realize that I indicated I couldn't change channels - I indicated it would save a lot of time if they didn't have all the un-necessary channels to deal with. It's getting pretty tough when you have to explain each comment for clarity!

I swear, a whole bunch of you need to take your wallets out and look closely at your birth date. What is it with so many these days acting like high school snotty as kids? If you ask me that's the worst problem we have, and these elections bring it right to the forefront. You come off as though you understand the Constitution better than anybody, you know more about what the bible rally says, what our fore fathers had in mind for us, and are never shy to tell the rest of us you know, we have no clue. As foe MSNBC, FOX, or any of a plethora of talk radio personnel, what an absolute pity I feel for anyone tht buys into that slanted, hateful, ridiculous banter that goes on. Think for yourselves, don't buy into the carp stories politicians tell you, the slanted news heads tell you, or the talk sho radio mouth pieces. What don't you understand that these are all slanted, skewed, opinions. These people care not one whit about you and me, all they want is your $$$$!! How many books has Doctor Michael Savage put out for you? What about that gas bag Limbaugh? Why do you people buy into their nonsense? Maddow, Scarborough, Papantonio, same thing. Read folks, use the Internet wisely and research. Don't believe any numbers from any source until you verify the information for yourself. Anyone familiar with statistics knows you can make the numbers say what you want, or the true facts. As my college Stats Instructor always said; 'There's lies, damned lies, and statistics'. Think about it, for yourself, and let the talking heads hit the unemployment line, though at this point most are living quite comfortable on all the dollars they’ve fleeced from the sheeple brigade with their BS.
