WALLA WALLA — A 20-year-old man was stabbed by two other men during a possibly gang-related confrontation early today.

According to Walla Walla police, the victim reported he was walking in the area of Willow and Chestnut street when two men confronted him and asked “What do you bang?”

Tim Bennett, spokesman for the Walla Walla Police Department, said this is essentially a gang affiliation related question.

The victim told police his assailants began calling him names, and a fight ensued. One of the suspects pulled a knife, and the 20-year-old man attempted to block the strike, suffering a stab wound to his hand.

The victim told police he then ran home. The man was treated at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. The investigation has been turned over to Walla Walla gang detectives.
