DAYTON — Riverview led by just six points, 23-17, going into the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s game with Dayton before exploding for 21 points and a 46-25 victory over the Bulldogs.

“They (Riverview) got hot, they hit a few 3s in the fourth,” Dayton coach Roy Ramirez said. “They got a couple of free looks and they knocked some shots down. They hit those 3s in the fourth and kind of pulled away from us.”

Riverview hit six 3s in total for the game, including two by R.J. Cooper, who finished with 14 points.

Wyatt Frame led Dayton with 10 points.

The Bulldogs shot a dismal 6-of-35 from the field, but were 11-for-16 from the free-throw line.

“We didn’t shoot the ball well and we didn’t take care of the basketball,” Ramirez said. “When you add those two things up, it doesn’t turn out real well. It’s high school basketball, you just got to roll with that and come to practice the next day and get better.”

Dayton (1-2) hosts Pomeroy Saturday.
