COLFAX — Waitsburg-Prescott’s girls basketball team took to the road and lost to Colfax, 59-19, Tuesday night in their first action of the year.

“We had a terrible time, we couldn’t get anything to fall,” W-P coach Jerry Baker said. “Being our first game of the season, they were a little bit more polished than we were and they pretty much took advantage of us.”

W-P made just seven field goals and was 3-for-11 from the charity stripe.

W-P committed 38 turnovers to only 14 by Colfax.

“We’ll put this game behind us,” Baker said. “It’s more or less a preseason game for us. Obviously, ball handling was a problem for us, I was a little disappointed tonight with that but they put a lot of pressure on. We’ll go back to practice and make sure the girls are aware of that.”

Krystal Harris led W-P (0-1) with eight points and contributed eight rebounds. Another Katy Hofer also pulled down eight rebounds.

“We’re pretty young and inexperienced,” Baker said, “so we’re going to grow a lot, that’s for sure.”

W-P plays Weston-McEwen Friday at 6 p.m.
