COLLEGE PLACE — Whitman paid a crosstown visit to Walla Walla University Tuesday night and wasn’t very neighborly.

The Missionary women harried the Wolves into 36 turnovers and shot 52.1 percent from the field on the way to a 92-30 rout.

Whitman led 56-9 at the half.

Six Missionaries reached double figures, with Sarah Anderegg’s 17 points leading the way.

Whitman posted 19 steals in the win, led by guard Marah Alindogan, who had four swipes.

“I thought we played amazing defense in the first half,” Whitman coach Michelle Ferenz said. “Walla Walla is a much-improved team and we just took them out of things, and from there we just set a tone.”

The win improved Whitman to 6-1 on the season.

“The kids are looking for each other,” said Ferenz of her squad’s teamwork. “They are starting to learn how to play together. It took a while, (we have) a lot of new faces, but they’re doing a nice job of being unselfish.”

Hallie Buse added 14 for the Missionaries, Heather Lovelace 11, and Mary Madden, Heather Johns and Meghan White each added 10.

Dani Carlman led Walla Walla with seven points and four assists with four rebounds.

Whitman next hosts Northwest Conference foe Puget Sound Friday at 6 p.m.

WWU next visits Montana Tech for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday in Butte, Mont.
