College Place man arrested in child pornography case

WALLA WALLA — A College Place man known to his Facebook followers as the “Walla Walla Sweet Onion Burger” has been arrested for investigation of distributing child pornography.

In a release, Walla Walla Police spokesman Tim Bennett said David N. Polk, 57, of 427 S.E. College Place, was taken into custody this morning.

Bennett said the arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the College Place Police Department and the computer forensics detective of the Walla Walla Police Department.

“The arrest was the culmination of a six-month investigation after information was received that Polk had digital photos of nude teenage girls, ages 14-17, and that those photos were being transmitted electronically,” Bennett said.

“The investigation required the forensic search of numerous storage devices seized during the execution of a search warrant at Polk’s residence and thousands of digital images stored on those devices.”

Bennett confirmed Polk is one of the moderators of the Facebook site Walla Walla Sweet Onion Burger. The site began operating last summer.
