WALLA WALLA — Downtown parking fines will double next year.

On Wednesday, City Council unanimously approved increasing fines within its two-hour zone at the request of local merchants represented by the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation.

The current fines range from $5 to $50, depending on how many tickets are received within a 30-day period.

The new fines will start Jan. 1 and are as follows:

  • First offenses: $10.
  • Second offense: $30.
  • Third offense: $50.
  • Fourth offense: $100.

The fee for not responding to a parking fine within 30 days will also double from $25 to $50.
