Temporary lockdown lifted at local schools

Walla Walla High School and Prospect Point Elementary were on temporary lockdown this morning following a recommendation by the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.

Mark Higgins, communications director for Walla Walla Public Schools, said the two schools were placed on lockdown about 9 a.m., after the sheriff’s office advised the district of potential danger stemming from the pursuit of a suspect vehicle along Reser Road and heading east.

Higgins said the schools were in lockdown and students were kept indoors until about 9:40 a.m., when the Sheriff’s Office contacted the district that the area around the schools had been cleared.
