Milton-Freewater man's shooting claim prompts multi-agency response

MILTON-FREEWATER - The Umatilla County Sheriff's arrested a 21-year-old man early Sunday morning after he reportedly called 911 and reported he had shot at people outside of his home.

According to a Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office report, Byron Adels called Milton-Freewater and Umatilla County Sheriff's Office dispatchers just before 4 a.m., Sunday, and reported there were people outside his home in the 83900 block of Highway 339 in Milton-Freewater.

"He also made statements that he had shot at them and he was going to shoot anyone, including cops, who came near his house," Sgt. Bill White wrote in the report.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the call, and were preparing to search for Adels, when the 21-year-old approached officers.

Officers took Adels into custody without incident, and discovered an airsoft pistol in a pocket.

Adels was lodged at Umatilla County Jail on investigation of second degree disorderly conduct and improper use of 911.
