POMEROY — Pomeroy went 11-5 at a mix-and-match meet in Pomeroy Tuesday featuring Wa-Hi’s junior varsity team, Waitsburg-Prescott, and Tri-Cities Prep.
“We really did pretty well,” Pomeroy assistant coach Ben Slaybaugh said. “Our freshmen did pretty well; they’re all pretty green but they came out and wrestled hard and our older guys followed suit and we’re pretty proud of them.”
Slaybaugh said Taylor Lewis, who pinned Wa-Hi’s Alex Lybbert in the first round, had a particularly good night.
“He had a pretty tough match and he came out and wrestled really aggressive, and pinned this kid,” Slaybaugh said. “He showed some real grit.”
The Pirates wrestle in Heppner Thursday at 4 p.m.
