All officers involved in assault at prison out of hospital

WALLA WALLA — Correctional officers who were assaulted by multiple inmates at the Washington State Penitentiary on Tuesday are out of the hospital, according to a news release issued by Penitentiary officials last night.

“I commend these officers for their good spirits and their remarkable response to a difficult situation,” Steve Sinclair, penitentiary superintendent said. “They have been through a lot.”

According to officials, all four units of the West Complex remain in lockdown today, and the riot is believed to be gang related.
