The Children’s Home Society of Washington will sponsor the Light a Candle of Hope campaign this month.

A lit or electric candle in the window of a business or home in December means taking a stand against child abuse, the organization said in a press release.

Children’s Home Society staff and Walla Walla families will light up downtown sidewalks with luminarias on Monday, 4-7 p.m., to show support for children who have been emotionally, physically, sexually abused or neglected.

To help support the Candle of Hope Campaign and local child abuse prevention efforts, decorative candles are being sold at the CHSW office, 1612 Penny Lane. Votive candles, and small and large glass jar candles are available in morning rain or vanilla scent, organizers said. All proceeds go to the agency’s “Home Team Parent Aide Program.”
